Yo Gotti is loved by his fans for presenting his version of their grim reality. While times are hard on the boulevard, that doesn’t mean there isn’t time for love, and Gotti has room in his heart (and his ride and his bed) for a shorty that loves them thugs. He lets you know exactly how much room on his latest song, “We Can Get It On”.
Oh your man is putting his hands on you baby? No problem. He just doesn’t know what he’s got. That’s how Gotti feels as he puts on the save ‘em cape that usually accompanies these songs. It’s funny because I keep hearing that there’s so many single women out there, but these guys can only find ones who are dating someone else and getting beat up. Flash a lil green, give them a ride in the truck, and it’s an easy win, I suppose. But I digress.
You’ve heard it all before, he can hit it right, and he can take care of you (by buying you stuff). Gotti and his new chick could be “Tiny & Tip,” “Puffy & Kim,” “Michelle & Obama,” “Jada & Will,” “Jay & Bey” or “Hillary & Bill.” I don’t know if I would aspire to a couple of those options but you get the point. At least he sees a future with the woman, and the romantic sentiment is welcome on any track these days minus the saccharine.
The slow double snare groove, with the whiney R&B wail (Think Keith Sweat’s “Make It Last”) is nothing you haven’t heard before. Ciara sings the hook but there’s really no opportunity for her to prove she can (or can’t) blow. This song won’t enable you to settle that argument by any means, but on a track like this, she certainly can’t hurt her rep any further. It’s easy listening from the durty durty and although it’s paint by the numbers, at least it colors inside the lines. “We Can Get It On.” Enjoy
