It’s time once again for your weekly Indiesent Exposure installment, Planet Ill’s music column where I drop some FREE music downloads & info about quality independent umsic artists of different genres who deserve serious credit for keeping things lively & original.
Indiesent Exposure is set to give your ears some respite from some of the daily audio wackness that bombards the masses through the mainstream radio’s definitions of Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, World Music, etc.
If you like what you hear & download up in this section, PLEASE support (monetarily and otherwise) these artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product, go to their shows, etc.
The Indiesent Exposure full-length pick of the week contains some party-starting Electronica, Funk, Jazz and Rock-influenced weekend grooves straight from Central America.
Whenever you have the chance, please let all of the talented Indiesent Exposure artists and the Planet Ill crew know what you think of the music in our comments section!
Let’s get it in – download, sit back, relax & hope you enjoy the grooves:
With the end of summer and that advent of fall here in the States, people have already started planning travel to warmer locales. More likely than not that’s not going down anytime soon in the real world (airline prices + bad economy = o_O) so in the meantime for folks with slightly tight pockets like myself, let’s engage in a 1st class daydream of discovering the wonders of Costa Rica with the self-titled 5 song EP from CocoFunka.
The six man collective of really talented instrumentalists and singers has extremely strong Jazz, R&B, Latin Music, Rock and Funk music influences that should remind the listener of late 1970s – 1990s era output of Carlos Santana. CocoFunka does NOT do the paint-by-the-numbers style of Top 40 Latin Alternative Rock you can probably hear blasting at the local bodega, but they do crank out very passionate music, which is to everyone’s benefit.
Within each 2 -3 minutes song, the crew plays with Drum & Bass, Roots Reggae and Electronica sounds among all of the other listed influences, keeping a listener on their toes to see what may come next. Along with maintaining high energy levels and tight executionm, CocoFunka transitions smoothly from song to song. One can’t help but to be swept up in their lush wave of sound.
With the CocoFunka EP containing lively music for both mellow moods with mid-tempo ballad-type tracks to high-tempo stompers, the release should spark a good time for all during your last summer 2010 BBQs or zoning out imagining where else you can be during that 9-to5 worktime.
