The Rick Ross machine rolls on, gathering momentum and crushing all obstacles in its path. After a successful return with his latest work, Teflon Don, more music keeps leaking and it seems like he can’t lose. Not everyone is a happy camper. Although Big Meech (and reportedly his momma) was fine with “B.M.F.,” once BMF chum Young Jeezy, who “knows Big Meech, the real Big Meech” wasn’t so happy with it and launched a freestyle over the beat and taking not so subtle shots which he denies and you’ll believe if you’re an idiot.Young Jeezy – Death Before Dishonor (B.M.F. Freestyle)(2)
Well the Bauce and his boys didn’t take too kindly to Jeezy’s shots and decided to strike back with a bit of intra-Def Jam retaliation. While Ross took a different route with 50 Cent, he’s meeting this one head on and dropped “The Summas Mine.”
The beat is not all it’s cracked up to be, sounding like an unfinished Lex Luger throwaway track. All the cliché elements of Southern trap rap beats are there except cats yelling “ayyye” in the back ground. The weak beat definitely short circuits the song from being a classic, but Ross goes in on Jeezy and makes it clear who his target is. Lines like “You just affiliated, you a waterboy, n***a you entertainment” makes light of Jeezy’s association with the Black Mafia Family and how he pimped that relationship for street cred.
Jeezy had been making progress with his album The Recession in terms of growth, but he seems to be trying to slip back into the trap. Unfortunately Rick Ross is firmly entrenched and riding a wave. I don’t know if Jeezy wants any parts of this. “The Summas Mine.” I guess so. Enjoy.
