Yet another pop diva has stepped up to cover Etta James and done a good job with it, possibly evoking the wrath of Ms. James and that slick mouth of hers. I don’t know if Aguilera and the producers of Burlesque got Etta’s blessing before pressing forward with this project, but Aguilera tears it down so expect at least an eye roll from the legendary chanteuse.
Burlesque will be released in November and stars Aguilera as an aspiring singer/cocktail waitress who saves a faltering club from closing by being generally kick ass behind the mic. The premise is a bit paint by numbers and of course will feature all the trials and tribulations that come with becoming a huge star, but it looks like the soundtrack will be great if nothing else.
The below clip is Aguilera taking a minute to air out the pipes in between the lunch and dinner rushes and it’s obvious that someone who sounds like that shouldn’t be serving chopped BBQ for a living. Say what you want about Bionic. This chick is one of the best in the game right now. Period.

Just in case you don’t know the original, here is the incomparable Etta James.
