In every artist’s life they come to a line of demarcation where they have to really commit to their craft. Everyone has delusions of grandeur and after the initial rush of actually doing what you love comes the frustration of realizing that what you love, and the way you love it, may be insufficient to get you where you want to be with your art; that whatever you are doing just may not be enough.
When you hit this point, you begin to question is it really for you? Is this really what you want? And those “get a job” whispers get louder, and the tossing and turning begins and you are confronted with the mortality of your dreams. This line is what separates the artist from the poser. This is where you decide that this isn’t a hobby to you, but a way of life; a commitment to lunacy that could pay off unimaginably or end up in disaster. At this point, you either embrace it, and ignore the non-believers, some of whom think they are acting in your best interests when they are trying to dissuade you, or you pack it in. Don’t be mad, UPS is hiring (well maybe not in a recession).
Donny Goines has seemingly decided to go out guns ablazing. With an impending EP on the horizon 20x, Goines has been burning the midnight oil, logging countless hours in the studio, and really taking his work to the next level. That sounds a bit cliche’ but seriously, with no disrespect to his earlier work, 20x will blow them all away. With an sharpened ear for music, a rededication to his flow and delivery, and an improved vocabulary, Donny Goines is taking his music to levels he has not previously reached. But don’t take my word for it. Hear it from the horse’s mouth. Donny Goines: Ready For The Big Leagues.
