Good evening and welcome back to the sickest Sunday on the net. Earlier today we blessed you with the NFL picks for week 3 and the Classic Clash: The Chronic vs. 2001. Now we’re gonna bring it home with some musical treats that will touch across the full Hip-Hop spectrum. I won’t spend too much time talking, it’s been a long day. Make sure you check in tomorrow for the Planet Ill Skyzoo interview. Peace
Ghostface Killah feat. Vaugn Anthony & Estelle -Paragraphs of Love 07-ghostface_killah-paragraphes_of_love_ft._vaughn_anthony_and_estelle
Not many hardcore rappers have the courage to be vulnerable, nor the skill to convey that vulnerability with great result. Dennis Coles is one of the chosen few. This track from his upcoming Wizard of Poetry is brilliantly executed and would stand out on any album both lyrically and production wise.
Cory Gunz feat. Willie Da Kid-Brand New Day08 A New Day
After a prolonged hiatus, Cory Gunz returns to a Hip-Hop that is finally beginning to show love to the new wave, with recent success stories of Kid Cudi and Drake as examples. Gunz rides the Gangsta Grillz train back to life and this joint features a better than average Willie setting up Cory for a solid close. Not the OMG Cory we’ve seen, but a credible one who looks like he’s settling in to an understandable speed. Solid if not spectacular.
Big Boi-Fo Yo SorrowsBig_Boi-Fo_Yo_Sorrows
The Goodie is back together and the ‘Kast is in the studio, so it would seem that all is right in the Dungeon. Big Boi however has a chip on his shoulder. Out to prove that Outkast was more Superman and Spiderman rather than Batman & Robin, Mr. Patterson has been on the grind something serious. This is more of the post-Speakerboxx Big Boi with George Clinton riding shotgun. His delivery is urgent yet reserved, addressing trapper rappers, haters, and post Katrina America in one song. Solid.
Kidz In The Hall-JukeboxJukebox_Dirty_Mastered
When you’re an adult you put away the childish things and after a very dope debut it would seem that the Kidz are no longer playing this time around. The beat is heavy and quick and Naledge is very assertive on this track. Their album was pushed back but this single was left to stand in the market and it serves to put you on proper notice that the halls are still unsafe for weak rappers. Don’t get your ass wedgied.
The Problem feat. Bad Lucc-The PreviewThe_Preview_mp3
Rising young rapper Problem from Compton, CA teams up with another rising L.A. artist Bad Lucc from the city of Watts for this new track called “The Preview.” Both artists are part of Snoop Dogg‘s music family as Problem wrote “Neva Hafta Wurry” from Snoop’s last album Ego Trippin‘ and Bad Lucc was featured on The Blue Carpet Treatment with his group, Dubb Union.
MC Lyte-The BlockMC Lyte_ One Time Around The Block Prod by WMS The Sultan
Legendary Lyte is back to blind our sight. I don’t really know what to make of this song. It’s a little more gutter than I’m used to hearing and it’s strange to hear a couple n***as, three s**ts and even a f**k from Lyte at this stage of her development. You can hear someone else’s hands in this rhyme and while thats not uncommon it’s like having a speech writer that doesn’t know the speaker.
Singapore Kane feat. Big Shug-MollywopMollyWop feat. Big Shug (prod. by Fizzy _Fame_ Womack) (Clean Edit) 1
Beantown’s Big Shug and Singapore Kane get it poppin with this hardcore track. Lil’ Fame, who absolutely laced the latest M.O.P. joint shows no signs of slippage. The duo themselves recently blessed Termanology’s latest album and together they are not fantastic lyrically but they are gruff and heavy with delivery. Solid.
That’s it for this week’s Sick Sunday. We got all coasts and the Midwest as well as both mainstream and underground, newbie and veteran. Tune in next week as we continue to bring you the sickest Sunday on the web. Peace out Brussel Sprouts
