I'm just curious but I wonder what loophole the heirs have used to get so much outta DC & WB. More power to them you never heard of other situations like this with comic properties.

It's hard to tell. Shuster and Siegel themselves had fought DC in court for years over the rights (or at least money DC supposedly owed them). I think at the basis the point of discussion is that Siegel and Shuster supposedly sold their Superman story to be printed in Action Comics 1, but didn't sell the property itself. They did however sell the rights for DC to exploit the character further, which basically means the Superman in AC1 is Shuster & Siegel property, and the exploits of the character that came after are DC's.

Man of Steel Image
Although Warner Bros. has yet to announce the beginning of principal photography on "Man of Steel," the first photo from director Zack Snyder’s Superman franchise reboot has emerged online. Brazilian entertainment website Omelette has the photo of stars Henry Cavill and Amy Adams as Clark Kent and Lois Lane in what’s presumably the Daily Planet -- a very cluttered and retro-looking Daily Planet at that.
Although details of the movie have been kept tightly under wraps, recent clues suggest the story may hew closely to the 2003 DC Comics miniseries "Superman: Birthright," with a young Clark roaming the world as a freelance reporter before returning to Smallville to learn more about his origins.
Written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer and producer Christopher Nolan, "Man of Steel" also stars (so far) Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Michael Shannon as General Zod. It opens in December 2012.
It's a bird!, it's a plane! it's SuperFAKE!!!
I really really like that Hulk design. FINALLY they fucking nail the right look. I hope that is the final look in the film and not just for advertisement cause if it is then the 3rd time was the charm.

Russell Crowe in talks to play Jor-El
Whether paying homage to Marlon Brando’s cameo in “Superman” or just wanting splashy marquee name, Christopher Nolan had all along been seeking an A-list thesp for Jor-El, Superman’s biological father, since agreeing to oversee the franchise reboot “Man of Steel” for Warner Bros. He’s got his man, and it’s Russell Crowe, Variety's Justin Kroll exclusively reports. More to come ...
