im telling you, a divorce would've made so much more sense, explained the change in character of Superman, and would've made him 10 times more relatable than just making him an awkward bachelor again. no need to rewrite or retconn anything involving their marraige. Action Comics could've still gone on as Morrison planned it. And it would've made a better transition from the Walk across America storyline, since it looked like that's where they were heading in a few issues.

Not really feeling the #0 issues. Green Lantern had me dying with the error-laden ring picking a Muslim. I'm sure they'll spin it saying the error refers to him being a criminal, but still, there's so much low-key racism to play off, lol.
Action Comics was a simple but effective tale, so simple and effective in fact I wish Morrison hadn't convoluted his AC run so much so early on.
Detective Comics offered a cliché story about Bruce's training, but Hurwitz, although still not entirely comfortable in the writer's seat, is a writer who knows how to utilize clichés.
Swamp Thing and Animal Man both did the 'new twist on the old origin' thing, and they did that well, although I liked AM's better because of its references to Morrison's run (plus it was good to see Buddy in costume again).
Stormwatch was probably the best with the back stories of the other century babies and the alluding that Adam One is Merlin.

Hurwitz does NOT know the meaning of subtle one bit. 'tec was so damn heavy handed with the writing it's not even funny. There were times where Bruce Wayne came across as a bit too naive and emotional in laughable manner.
I get that he's untrained at that point but still. Yeah it gives an explanation for Batman's stoic nature but in the end it's just him NOW learning what he had already learned with his actual parents' death pre-New 52. It' still nice to read a stand alone Batman story after so long though I guess. Regardless of how mediocre it turned out.
Also slight nitpick but I wish it had said 14 yrs earlier and 11 yrs later. I'm almost done with this guy's Batman comics honestly and getting ready to cast them to the side like I have done with Snyder's. I'll see how this stupid Scarecrow arc in TDK pans out by the end but so far I'm pretty unimpressed.
The funny thing about GL is that Johns goes out of his way to essentially write himself into the story (detroit resident of arab descent) but still can't escape the stereotypes surrounding muslims to this day. I mean end of the day this guy still managed to blow up a building and get put inside GITMO lmao. The man couldn't escape the "muslim = bombers" perception no matter what. It's been days and I'm still LOL @ a muslim still blowing up a building like a terrorist even if it's by accident.
Also getting tired of every single earth Lantern being an American and I'm an American. It just projects that "America!!! Fuck Yeah!!!" obnoxious attitude so blatantly. I mean you want to play with stereotypes? then have the ring scan for someone in Asia then have it pick a woman who was chosen because she had the will power to be a decent driver on the road or something. It'd probably be more interesting.
Animal Man & Swamp Thing were ok. Lemire's writing on AM has kinda grinded my gears since issue 6. It just feels like everything is at at stand still and nothing ever truly happens. It's not as incompetently decompressed as some other books but is still decompressed nonetheless. Snyder's ST at least is better with the execution despite playing with the same amount of cliches and exposition.
But this pair of books did further throw off the flow of the story of those books and I'm kinda tired of them seeming so co-dependent with each other. We get it Arcane is EVIL; we learned that 3 months ago it's not really necessary to go "see see he killed a baby; eeeeeeeevvvvvviiiiiiiiiiillllll"
It's been like the 4th month in a row where they're all "get ready for ROTWORLD but first.....more build up towards ROTWORLD" I mean get the shit over with already. I like the concepts because DC works at it's best when exploring cosmic and supernatural concepts but I wish it was flowing at a better speed and with better scripts. Despite the scripts though the art was awesome as usual and I think the guy who filled in on ST should become the regular artist with Rudy as the occassional fill-in still.
Action Comics was great and the only number 0 so far that I feel truly mattered because it did a great job of filling in all of the blanks in the run so far in a very natural way. We learned so much with so little that effective is definitely the word I'd use as well. From Clark's admiration of Lois and vice versa to the landlady really being the mate of the most popular 5th dimensional imp in the Superman universe after all to giving us allusions as to what motivated this mastermind behind everything in the book so far. Solid showing from Morrison on the script and Oliver's pencils were dope as dope can get.
This issue of Earth 2 is probably the first one I didn't really like. The blatant "see Terry Sloane Mr. Terrific inspired Peter Cannon Thunderbolt who inspired Ozymandias and now everything is coming back full circle" thing got a bit annoying at times. But it's still nice to see a cerebral and more formidable opponent being set up for that earth as opposed to it just being the forces of Apokalips.
World's Finest though geesh if it wasn't for the art by Maguire it probably was one of the cheesiest and lamest things I've read in a bit. I don't know what's happening to Levitz but he's trying way too hard with the dialogue and seems to have forgotten how to properly structure and pace a narrative. Damn near everything in that comic felt contrived as fuck and not organic in anyway. I laughed out loud at "I think we're going to be best friends forever" after 5 in story minutes of fighting side by side; good grief.
