I'll say, Morrison bringing (old) continuity back and revitalizing it is one of the best things about his run. I can't stand writers who acknowledge only their own little continuity and the 'legendary' moments. That's one of the reasons I barely read any Marvel anymore. It's just writers doing whatever the fuck they want with no respect for another man's work.

the RAAAAAH was hilarious. But I still say this book is worlds better than what we were getting before. its still empty calories, but they dont leave a horrid taste in your mouth. its the most mainstream, easily accessible batman book, almost like it could be for kids.

With all the scenes of child abduction and abuse, I wouldn't call it a kids book, but it's definitely a lot easier to access than the other Bat-books.

After thinking about it though I believe the problem may still lie with Finch. I don't know how much pull he still has on the book, but when we get a double splash page of the Batmobile roaring down the road while important plot scenes are getting rushed through as quickly as possible, it almost seems Finch has final say on how to draw the story, putting heavy exposition on his own skills rather than helping the narrative.

Still, that doesn't explain the "RAAAAAAH!", which was indeed hilarious.

TDK has been a disappointment to me because aside from the WTFness of this issue and it's dumb decompression I wasn't too impressed by Hurwitz' first issue either. Issue 10 had a much better flow though. It certainly was the series' best moment all things considered but depending on where this arc goes I may just stop reading this book about as quickly as it took for me to start reading it.

I really hope DC just gives the man enough space to do his thing. The Penguin mini he did was near perfect and his Marvel work too showcased a writer who knows how to use characters (he's one of the few writers who wrote The Sentry correct, in a goddamn Moon Knight book no less!). He just needs to find his groove and with the next issue most likely featuring a fear-induced hallucinatory Batman, I think we're going to get a good view in how capable the man is.

Pain and Prejudice definitely was good enough to be called a definitive Penguin story. I like that he at least likes to play with the classic bat rogues.

Warner Premiere, Distributor Of Direct-To-Video DC Adaptations To Close

The subsidiary of Warner Bros. responsible for the creation and distribution of among other things, adaptations of Batman and Superman DC Comics characters for direct-to-video release is reportedly closing down.

    Mark Julian - 8/13/2012

The Wrap have learned exclusively that due to the current downturn of the home entertainment industry, Warner Bros. has shut down its direct-to-video label Warner Premiere this summer.

"Given the continuing decline in the direct-to-video film market and shifting business models in the production of digital series, the decision was made to close Warner Premiere,"
the studio said in a statement to TheWrap.

The site goes on to report that the division will finish production on its remaining film and digital series slate this Fall.

Since 2007, Warner Premiere has released Superman: Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: Gotham Knight, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern: First Flight, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and most recently Superman vs. The Elite.

This announcement won't effect The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1 but your guess is as good as mine on whether this news affect the release of Part 2.

More details as the story develops.
