Lauryn Hill just gave birth to her sixth child and that deserves a great deal of respect. Six kids is old school fruitfulness. When you think about half a dozen children in one home, you consider your grandmother or great auntie. Few of us multiply that prolifically anymore. My hat is off to her. With the tease of a comeback to the music world fresh in our memories though, the news of yet another chubby-faced cherub in the Hill household is bittersweet. We wanted a new album right? Or should we?

We all know The Miseduaction of Lauryn Hill. We all have it. 13 years in, plenty of us still listen to it. Hill spoke to women on a real and intimate level; challenging our behaviors and giving credibility to many of our issues. She didn’t patronize, preach nor sugar coat. She knew how we felt because she felt it too. It’s one of the most raw and honest albums of the 20th century.[...]
