Remember when it was first announced that they were going to make a movie based on Battleship everybody sorta laughed at the idea/concept of making a Battleship movie. Well, it's the actual Battleship mechanics (tactically trying to find the opponent's location and striking while staying safe yourself) that provide the best scenes in the movie, with the rest being Bayformered fluff of bullshit. Which means that if they'd actually stayed with the original concept and made a WWII based war movie about a dreadening suspense-filled naval battle, they could've easily made a memorable movie.
