Barry didn't exist in the Timm-verse. Wally was an amalgam of himself and Barry. That's why they had him working as a forensic scientist and why he had the ability to vibrate through object.

Wally can do it but it's much more difficult for him. Barry used to do that shit with ease. Young Justice is not a part of the Timm-verse. It's a completely different reality.
In the Young Justice universe Barry exists and is The Flash while Wally is Kid Flash.
In the Timm-Verse there never was a Barry Allen. Wally is a mixture of both of them.

The All Star Superman director offers a bit of insight into the company's next animated adaptation, including what was added to the film to augment the comic series' storyline.
Batman: Year One -- otherwise known simply as Year One -- is a 1987 comic book story arc written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli. The story recounts the beginning of Bruce Wayne's career as Batman and Jim Gordon's with the Gotham City Police Department. Bruce returns home from training abroad in martial arts, manhunting, and science for the past 12 years, while Gordon moves to Gotham with his wife, Barbara, after a transfer from Chicago. Both are swiftly acquainted with the corruption and violence of Gotham City, and vow to make a difference in their own way.
DC Universe Animated Original Movies is tackling the fan-favorite storyline as their next project after All-Star Superman, and the film's director Sam Liu was kind enough to offer a few updates on the project:
"We have initial footage in; it's not 100 % complete right now. Lauren [Montgomery ] and I are co-directing Year One and I have since been moved off onto the Green Lantern series, so I feel bad because she's doing most of the heavy lifting right now. I try to do as little what I can... So far, it's quite good."
In regards to the comics accuracy of the adaptation, Liu stated that the company is staying very faithful to Miller's work. But one change in particular should help incorporate backstory to the tale, while adding a bit of originality:
"[It] was mandated from the beginning that this was going to be straight to the point and not to waiver from the story. Actually, the graphic novel itself is a little bit short. Normally we're taking like 12 issues of something and kind of like compress it, and in this case it's a pretty short graphic novel so we were actually under.
"What we had to do was add a short on top of it. So, instead of just creating some thing to put into the story; we decided to just end it where it ends and then just add something else."
No release date has been set for Batman: Year One; while All Star Superman, featuring the voice talents of James Denton and Christina Hendricks, hits stores this week.
The latest batch of animated films from DC Entertainment and Warner Premiere, including Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and Batman: Under the Red Hood, were accompanied by short films featuring several fan-favorite characters such as Green Arrow, Jonah Hex and The Spectre. Unfortunately, it appears this practice will not continue.
"We probably won't be doing anymore of the DC Showcase type shorts. The early indication that the [Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam] compilation that we did didn't sell really well enough to just cycle anymore of them.
"There is going to be one more short featurette, the Catwoman short, that's going to be on the Batman: Year One film, but then beyond that I really don't know."

I don't see the reason for another retelling of Batman's origins. Everyone and their mama knows the story. Even without Batman Begins we've already been shown the origin in movies, and tv. They should have tried for a more modern Batman story.
I am really enjoying Young Justice. I think they are doing some interesting things with these characters and the stories are pretty entertaining.

MARVEL ANIMATION UNVEILS THOR: TALES OF ASGARD
To tie in with the big-screen Thor hitting on May 6th, Marvel Animation has announced a tie-in animated film coming directly to DVD and Blu-ray on May 17th. IGN has the details and a first look at the set's cover art, pictured below.
Packed with special features like audio commentaries with the creators, a "making-of" featurette and a bonus TV episode of The Avengers, Thor: Tales of Asgard will come to Blu-ray combo pack and DVD for the suggested retail prices of $29.99 and $19.98, respectively.
First previewed over a year ago, Tales of Asgard will tell the story of Thor's earliest years and his first adventure with his brother, Loki and the Warriors Three.
Here are the details we have on the special features (subject to change, of course):
Audio commentary with Supervising Producer Craig Kyle and Screenwriter Greg Johnson
Audio commentary with Supervising Director Gary Hartle, Animation Director Sam Liu and Character Designer Phil Bourassa
"Worthy: The Making of Thor: Tales of Asgard" featurette
The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Bonus Episode from the new hit TV series
And finally, here's your first look at the DVD and Blu-ray box art:

I agree with the bolded, but they seemed to have stopped doing that in the later eps. Superboy is the biggest bitch on the team. Thinks he doesn't need training, then gets sonned by Black Canary, complains that Superman won't talk to him and what not. Man the f#@$ up already.
I actually hope to see more of the League in some eps. Have some league members help out some YJ members on a mission. The league in this show is pretty strong. Two GLs, Bats, Sups, Wonder Women, Captain Marvel, Flash, MM, Canary, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Zatarra (sp?) (which I am hoping means we'll see Zatanna as a YJ member for a bit) etc etc.

Currently I've been leaning towards DC, but I would say that at any given time I could switch back to Marvel. The main reason I am not a fan of Avengers is the art. I cannot stand it, it looks so childish. I know this seems like a ridiculous reason not to watch a show, but if I don't like viewing it, I am not going to get into the story.

It got cancelled for bullshit reasons. Which sucks because I was really feeling that show as well. And with AOA on the horizon I was stoked for it to come back. Aw well on to the next one.
I'm still getting caught up on The Avengers, but I am starting to see the appeal. I like that they are moving into continuity quite quickly and that they are introducing a lot of Marvel character we haven't seen on TV in awhile (Ms. Marvel, No-var, Hydra, A.I.M). Like when the camera followed it to stick to the thief. Him being with MJ off the bat is to be expected since it looks like they are following the Ultimate storyline.

While the Iron Man and Wolverine ones weren't particularly good (to say the least), this one is shaping up to be the most interesting. Animated Movie Of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns Said To Be In The Works!
Bleeding Cool are reporting that work has started on an animated adaptation of Frank Miller and Klaus Janson's classic comic book, The Dark Knight Returns! Hit the jump for details...
Here are a couple of the main excerpts from the report. To read more, click on the link below to head on over to the site.
Bleeding Cool have heard from multiple sources (enough with the multiples already) that work is underway on a movie adaptation of Frank Miller and Klaus Janson‘s classic The Dark Knight Returns. As you might have guessed, however, this is to be an animated adaptation, much like the recent All Star Superman or in-the-works Year One.
Fittingly, Year One will come along first, but DKR is already in the early stages of development. According to our sources, several veterans of Batman toons past will be on the crew list, though we’re still trying to confirm who is writing and directing the film.

When each Avenger destroyed a norn stone, they each opened a portal to one of the nine realms. Thor went to Asgard, not Valhalla. Valhalla and Niffleheim are both regions of Hel. They obviously didn't bother to explain the difference in the episode because Niffleheim sucked ass and gave Cap motivation to fight on and out of that shithole whereas if he'd ended up in Valhalla he'd have probably stayed. Remember it's his realisation Bucky's not there that makes him realise it's REALLY not heaven or a resting place for the honourable dead.
They explicitly state one of the ley line points is under an active volcano and that is why the Masters weren't targeting it. We can safely assume that one was the portal to Muspelheim, Surtur's realm of fire giants. Hawkeye went to Alfheim, Iron Man went to Nidavellir, Hank and Wasp ended up in Jotenheim, BP ended up in Svalrtalfheim, realm of the spirits of the Dark Elves as shown in the episode with Malekith when he opened a portal between it and Earth. So quite simply when Thor landed back home Odinforce empowered Loki laid the smack down on his ass and put him in stocks.
This is like when you said the hydra carriers only turned up in the Hydra vs AIM New York battle when they've shown up since the mini episodes, have a watch of them again and you'll notice the smaller things hopefully.

Also the elf that helped Hawkeye, Eitri and Hela all named their realms. Jotenheim was accessed and named before in other episodes, so was Svartalfheim. It's all there and explained in the show. There’ll be changes to some of the old favorites, with new costume designs for Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Nick Fury. Captain America and Nick Fury will be sporting their Ultimate Comics looks, and Thor’s look will be based on Olivier Coipel design. And introducing new characters, with 2 new Avengers, Ms. Marvel & the Vision. Guest stars include the Fantastic Four, Doc Samson, Ronan the Accuser, Ultron, Guradians of the Galaxy (Star-Lord, Quasar -Phyal-Vell, Adam Warlock, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot), the Falcon, Skrulls, and Dr Doom. With all these characters, Season 2 sounds exciting.
Season 2 will involve storylines including the Secret Invasion and Dr Doom. But the major of the season will have to deal with Avengers trying to stay a team.

Also with the introduction of the GOTG/Adam Warlock they have to introduce the Infinity Gems and Magus at some point. If the show survives for a third season I can see them going in the direction of the Infinity Gauntlet once the Kree/Skrull War wraps and the rest of the universe become aware of Earth's growing status as a hero haven. I'm guessing Wonder Man joins the team after the Masters Of Evil final showdown mentioned in the videos on that site.

I think the rest of the Avengers episodes will air in the US on a weekly basis in about three weeks time after Thor is released. Second season is set to start in October assuming they stay on schedule. No idea on new YJ episodes, apparently with work on JLA Chaos, Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Batman Year One as well as concept art for the new Batman and Superman movies in the pipeline, the WB animation's department are working their arses off and all the episodes that have been completed have aired. No known return date as yet.

JLA Chaos is the last work of Dwayne McDuffie and is an adaptation of the Tower Of Babel story that ran in Morrison's JLA. Ra's Al Ghul uses Batman's contingency plans against his own teammates.
Nolan's Batman is in pre-production as is Snyder's Superman. Who do you think shares the burden of doing the storyboards, theoretical SFX set ups and concept art before they actually shoot and hire outside production companies?

I'd much rather it look anime-ish than all the shitty ben 10 looking cartoons weve been getting. Thats one thing I loved about the 90s marvel cartoons, they actually looked like comic book illustrations, only animated. its this whole kiddy nickelodeon look that puts me off....I dont even really dig the artwork from the 90s dc cartoons either for their blocky over sized look.

Justice League Doom: Cast Announced
TV Guide has announced the cast of Justice League: Doom, and fans are going to be thrilled with the number of voice veterans they've brought back for this production — some of whom harken back to the Justice League animated series.
Providing the voice for Superman is Tim Daly, reprising the role that began in Superman: The Animated Series, and for which he returned in the made for DVD films Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.
Kevin Conroy is back at Batman, continuing his legacy as the voice of the Dark Knight that began back in the early 1990s on Batman: The Animated Series and continues in many modern versions of the character.
Nathan Fillion, who voiced Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is back with his power ring. On the Justice League series GL was represented by John Stewart as voiced by Phil Lemarr.
Michael Rosenbaum is back as the Flash. Particularly interesting is that while Rosenbaum was voicing the Flash on Justice League, he was starring as Lex Luthor in Smallville.
Carl Lumbly is back from Justice League to voice Martian Manhunter, while Susan Eisenberg reprises the role of Wonder Woman. Additionally, Cyborg is in the mix, and he's being voiced by The Game's Bumper Robinson.
Expect Justice League: Doom, loosely adapted from Mark Waid's Tower of Babel storyline by the late Dwayne McDuffie, to be released in February on Blu-ray and DVD.

Next Animated Batman Series To Be Titled Beware The Batman
Warner Brothers has plans to debut a new animated Batman series in the year 2013 that will be titled Beware The Batman and that will be a CGI cartoon just like Green Lantern The Animated Series.
While giving the keynote speech at the MIP Junior Market convention, Warner Brothers Animation executive VP for creative affairs Sam Register revealed the title of a new animated series that will once again put the spotlight on Batman. The title of the show will be Beware The Batman and will debut some time in the year 2013. The show will be CGI based much like Green Lantern The Animated Series and is said to feature Batman's loyal butler Alfred as well as a new female sidekick ninja named Katana.
The next Batman animated series, debuting in 2013, is titled Beware the Batman. According to Register, the CGI animated series will spotlight a classic-looking Batman teaming up with a gun-toting Alfred Pennyworth and a female ninja sidekick. Beware the Batman is executive-produced by Glen Murakami, and will also explore the mythology’s more obscure villains, such as Professor Pyg, but will also feature mainstays such as The Joker and The Penguin. In the series, Batman will team up with a younger female sidekick named Katana. During the keynote, Register added that Katana will fill the sidekick role, but won't be a replacement for Robin.

Speaking to Big Shiny Robot, the legendary Bruce Timm shared the following:
Q: How involved were you in getting Lauren Faust for Super Best Friends Forever and the Aardman Batman shorts?
TIMM: Oh, not at all.
Q: Are you going to be working with them at all?
TIMM: We’ve been talking with the producers on the DC Nation doing maybe possibly some stuff for them, but I’ve got to figure out a way to squeeze it into my schedule.
Q: When you’re looking for new projects that are within the DC Universe, is it difficult to deal with that wealth of riches that you have to choose from in the source material, or do you have a mental list of things that you say, “I’d really like to go back and do this if they gave me the opportunity.”
TIMM: It is kind of a broad question, and hopefully I can answer it in a way without insulting tons and tons of people, but…I wish there was more really strong source material like All-Star Superman or Batman: Year One for us to adapt into movies. There really aren’t. There’s a lot of good comics over the entire course of history, but in terms of finding a really well-known comic like Batman: Year One or Dark Knight Returns that’s not only a great comic but also famous and has its own name-recognition value, there aren’t that many of them out there. Is there a Dark Knight equivalent for Aquaman or for Green Arrow? No, there really isn’t. So there may be good stories out there, but they’re not on that same level. It definitely makes it easier when there’s a story like Batman: Year One or Dark Knight or All-Star Superman or The New Frontier. Something that’s really that strong and you can read the comic and go, “OK, I can totally see how that would work as an animated film.” There aren’t really that many properties out there that are like that.
Q: So it could work as a very successful story, but it might not translate into your area.
TIMM: Well, as a good example is Justice League: Doom. I read the Tower of Babel storyline when it first came out, and there were things about it that I really really liked, but for years everyone kept asking, “Oh, when are you going to do Tower of Babel? when are you going to do Tower of Babel?” and it doesn’t really work as an animated movie because there’s things that get up that don’t really pay off, it doesn’t have a movie structure to it, and it doesn’t really have a super larger-than-life quality to it. But then we were talking about it again just a couple of years ago, and going back and rethinking about the book because it’s a really, really strong idea for a movie: the idea that Batman has these contingency plans on how to take down the Justice League if they’d ever gone bad, and then those plans fall into the wrong hands and the villain actually puts those plans into action. It’s a really good, strong story motivator, so we felt like we could do something of our own with it. We’re always adapting ideas and things from the comics, but it may not always be a literal adaptation.

Young Justice is awesome. I love the fact that they even have Icon in that bitch. They really do a good job of playing around with the DC roster of characters. I think eventually they'll even surpass the Timm verse in that regard the way things are going. Brave & The Bold still my favorite DC toon right now though.
GL was cool but Timm should not have used CGI his animation style doesn't mesh as well. However that shit still had heart. If you felt nothing when that remote lantern (that was a cool concept btw) made the sacrifice he made then fuck you dude.
I find it funny that I've seen internet fanboys bitching about how the Red Lanterns were adapted. But it still keeps to the core of their characters without having them spewing flammable blood and roaring like savages. So what if they have dialogue now? a kid is not going to stand "GRRR ROARRRRR" and blood puking from a lot of characters. That would just scare the shit out of some kids. There's a reason it's in the T rated comic books only.
It was overall very well done for it's audience (kids) while still being a lot more respectful and living up more to the potential of the source material than the live action movie was. Which for me as an adult fan was something that really impressed me a lot and made me watch with the same enthusiasm a kid probably watched it with.

I meant during 04-08. The only good comic book cartoons airing were JLU and Teen Titans-and they got cancelled in 2006. Legion of Superheroes (06-08) was decent, but it didn't get better until the 2nd (and final) season. The first Marvel animated DVDs were ho hum in quality imo. Wasn't until Bruce Timm beefed up on the animated DVDs and like you said, the Spectacular Spider Man and Batman: tbatb aired/ released in 08. Wasn't until 2010 when The Avengers and Young Justice came out which officially put us in another golden age of good comic book animation.
Now that Green Lantern by Timm and co. and that new Spiderman Cartoon that Paul Dini is writing is going up, its only gonna get better.

You could tell he was forcing the hell out of his voice to even make it sound like what Bruce should probably sound like and it still fell monotonously flat. The adaption was pretty good for the rest part, definitely one of the better DC animated movies, although I'm sticking with my usual complaint, they need to up the length of these movies because every single one of them feels rushed to keep the running time at an hour.

I agree with this but it's due to the budget constraints. WB Animation is so traumatized by the theatrical Batman animated movie's flop so bad that they are very cheap with these DTV's. It's great when these cats that produced these flicks do work magic despite their limitations though (Under the Hood, Wonder Woman, All-Star Superman) cause those are the times when they even surpass the live action joints. I'm just glad the trinity all have a movie in this DTV line that is worthy of representing them.

LOL @ them hiring the wrong Baldwin. Alec Baldwin was born to play Batman, back in '89 for the live action joint and now a days in animation cause he still has that bad ass voice. It's a shame it didn't happen cause it's been a struggle for good Batmen voices post-Conroy including live action. I don't even like Bruce what's his face from Young Justice and the Red Hood movie too much but he's tolerable. Diedrich Bader was surprisingly really fucking good. Like one of the best Batmen ever. better than the voice for Batman in Crisis On Two Earths imo
can't co sign that one. Year One Batman's voice is the worst.
Jeremy Sisto from Justice League: New Frontier was underrated.

Crisis On Two Earths Batman was pretty bad, but not as bad as this guy. You could just hear the guy was completely forcing his voice.

I never would've thought that possible.
if i wouldnt keep imagining Batman in brave and the bold saying "Oh what a lovely tea party..." id say his voice is perfect for batman

havent seen yet, was aquaman traded for Martian? if they were gonna have the 2012 cast (smartly so), why not do it right?
The lineup was:
Superman (voiced by Tim Daily)
Batman (Voiced by Kevin Conroy)
Martian Manhunter (voiced by Carl Lumby)
Flash (voiced by Michael Rosembaum)
Green Lantern (voiced by Nathan Fillon)
Wonder Woman (Voiced by.......whoever did the voice on JLU)
Cyborg (Bumper Robinson)
despite what some though it's NOT a continuation of the Timmverse JLA. If anything this is more of a sequel to Crisis on two earths. Same version of Martian Manhunter, Hal instead of John, Barry instead of Wally, and Wonder Woman can't fly.
They also did a great job with the Villains for the most part, the only one that got kind of shafted was Metallo and that's only because he was treated as dumb muscle to some extent.

I dug it a lot, probably the best DC animated movie because they stayed close to the original story but still altered a lot. Not all of the changed contingency plans worked for me but some of the changed plans actually were better (Hal's in particular). The ending scene between Superman and Batman was perfect.

Caught this yesterday and it was definitely one of the better movies in their lineup. This probably is a sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths since there are scenes from that movie in the intro.
Batman being unrelenting in his reasoning was perfect, and showing no contrition after was in line with the character. The action scenes were done pretty good as well, although I think the Wonder Women movie still had the best. Definitely in the top 5.

Possible Cover Art For SUPERMAN VS. THE ELITE Revealed
With DC Animation's next project hitting stores this summer, an early Blu-Ray cover for the film and an official description have hit the web. Check it out after the jump.
Warner Home Video have revealed some new details surrounding their next DC Animated film Superman Vs. The Elite, based on the storyline "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?". Included are the possible cover art and an official plot summary. Check them out below:
The Elite, a team of super-powered antiheroes, is renowned for killing their enemies. Despite the acclaim and approval the Elite enjoy, Superman knows they are in the wrong, creating more harm than good by their methods. Tensions between them finally culminate in a mass showdown on Jupiter’s moons, when Superman is forced to prove that violence is never a positive.

They really know which stories to pick. Also, since the story is only a one-shot they have a lot of room to expand on the story rather than be forced to cut stuff out/simplify it like most DC animated releases.

Did anyone catch the latest Young Justice episode? They jumped the story five years in the future. New team, new Robin new pretty much everything. They introduced some new characters as well, Blue Beetle, Beast Boy, Bumble Bee, Wonder Girl, Batgirl, and Nightwing just to name a few. I'm surprised they would do this, but it does freshen things up a bit.

I'm not that interested in seeing DKR as an animated film, I'd much rather have another DC hero get a movie like Aquaman or Flash. Or if they are going to do another animated Batman movie make it something that is more familiar to regular viewers. Something fairly in continuity with the other DC Animated movies. They should create an animated movieverse IMO where they can tell longer stories than on a 30 mins cartoon.
Dr Doom

Superman Vs. The Elite was cool. I still don't like the character design, which was way too cartoony for what's arguably the most violent DC animated movie yet. They really didn't pull any punches on the violence and Superman's speech at the end remained intact, so that definitely worked. Unfortunately a lot of fluff has been added to fill up the length of the movie and it hurts the pacing of the story with a lot of scenes that seem only to repeat previous scenes rather than build further upon them.

According to that Youtube video:
Batman of Shanghai is a series of animated shorts from the DC Nation block on Cartoon Network, presenting a unique re-imagining of the Batman universe in a heavily stylized form, set in a 1930's era Shanghai.DC Nation has recently previewed a clip of their latest short series, 'The Bat Man of Shanghai'—that features the Batman universe in 1930's China. According to DC Nation, there will be at least three more videos of this short series, with Batman making an appearance in two weeks. It's an animation made by a Chinese animation company called Wolfsmoke Animation.
