What are the rules? What is the scenario? Because in character and they just duke it out with no time to prepare.... Bats doesn't stand a chance.
To be honest, the only way Batman stands a chance against Supes is through any amount of one sided prep. ONE SIDED Prep. Contrary to geek boy belief, if you give Superman and Batman even five minutes to prepare for the fight, then Supes would end the fight in mere seconds.

Supes. That's both who'd realistically win a fight and who my favorite is.

In The Dark Knight Returns Batman didn't even "really" win. Superman basically jobbed to him out of guilt. In Hush Batman won cause Supes was basically brainwashed and not in full control of his mental faculties. Giving Batman the advantage to outwit him for once and also use the proper tools to bring him down. That's the ONLY time it's made any sense to give Batman the victory. Seriously there is no way Superman could ever fairly lose with him being mentally superior and of course physically superior in everyway to Batman. This is why Batman wisely chooses to be best friends with him instead of an enemy cause even the Batgod knows what's really good.
If it's in terms of preference and not about a physical bout though then even though both are my favorite fictional (not just comic book) characters ever, I prefer Batman just slightly. Only really because I started to read Batman comics a few months before I started reading Superman books back in the late 80's. I also happen to own a lot more bat books than superman books till this day even after selling a huge bulk of my collections of both back in the late 90's. That and I prefer the batfamily to damn near any other supporting cast in comic books I just really really like that brood. This isn't a knock on the planet staff or the legion or the Kents though I like them a lot too but they just aren't seeing the Gordon's, Grayson, Alfred or the Outsiders to me.
That being said though I'd argue that the only reason Batman seemingly has more classic stories than Superman is because more writers happen to get Batman THAN Superman. So it's easier to come up with something more narratively strong for something familiar, than challenge yourself to create something compelling for something that is more unfamiliar. That being said in the rare case when you do get writers who completely GET Superman to the fullest extent (Ie: Moore, Kelly, Millar [yes Mark Millar & I don't just mean Red Son], Morrison, Busiek, Waid) I'd say Superman's stories are far more interesting and engaging in terms of concepts and execution than even the greatest Batman tales.
In terms of physical bouts I think a more interesting and challenging one to figure out would be Superman Vs. Captain Marvel. Though if you ask me just based on the fact that it's magic based the power of Shazam will trump Supes everytime in that scenario.

Batman already has a track record of success against cat-themed opponents.

How come more writers do not portray Superman as a more intelligent (or super intelligent) hero? Morrison did it in All Star, but other than that I cannot remember too many stories where he has been an intellectual heavy weight.

Okay, then.... challenge: Batman vs Black Panther.
i was just thinking of that and make a thread about it cuz it seemed more in line with the characters having so much in common
Batman already has a track record of success against cat-themed opponents.

Depends on which versions of the characters are being used.
Morrison's Batman vs Priest's Black Panther would be some crazy shit though.
Generally though I'd say Panther wins. T'Challa is right up there with Bruce in terms of intelligence, has deeper pockets, better tech, and has a physical edge over Bruce also.

Black Panther stands a good chance if he's properly written, because if someone tries to pull the "But give Batman preparation time" shit, you could say the same about Black Panther, who, if given preparation time as well, would son more heroes than you can count.

ok let's do this........Cap/Batman Jla/Avengers style...these *****s just meet up and know it's about to go down.........ok...................go.

Avengers Vs. JLA always been a tricky one. BP Vs. Batman though?
Well T'Challa is as good if not better a strategist than Bruce. He is also far more agile like Dick Grayson is compared to Bruce and his royal status indeed gives him access to much more resources (Ie: military style backup). However when it comes to fighting styles that incorporate brute force Bruce is superior. In terms of their use of tech both are about even though Bruce has slight advantages over T'Challa in that department. I'd say in a straight up bare knuckle closed in fight Bruce takes the edge slightly cause again he's much better with brute force than BP. However if fighting in a more open environment where T'Challa could physically capitalize off his surroundings he pretty much has that fight locked.

^interesting way to see it
but what i meant by saying Avenges/JLA was have these two characters just meet up all of a sudden/dropped in somewhere like tJLA/Avengers were they just appeared they had no prior knowledge or anything of each other

batman would win because he has had more movies
how many movies has black panther had? none.
and if he even had one, how many people would go see it? just the black comic book nerds.
and black people are only 12% of the population, and 99% of them don't read comic books.
so two people would go see it, a thousand would just download it, and no major studio would ever touch the character ever again
you know what black panther's best superpower is? he secretes BOX OFFICE POISON
he can kill a movie franchise dead in one shot
lmao
Nas Lost.

Recently there was a Cracked article about shitty comic cartoons and that was one of them so no, it apparently wasn't worth it, lol.
