Inspired by a CBR thread, what's the absolute worst shit you ever had to endure in a comic book or manga/anime?
Masters Of Doom will always be remembered by me for getting the very concept of Doom wrong... in the fucking title of the story! It's closely followed to Priest's arc on Deadpool where Loki curses him with the looks of actor Thom Cruz until he finds his father, only to randomly talk with him in a bar at a random moment for no apparent reason. The fact that Priest started off his run with the joke of having Wade throw a bag titled "Everything that made this book work" into a tarpit is a textbook definition of irony.
Worst anime story has to be High School Of The Dead. At one point the characters face a 'fence' made out of rope and can't cross it with the hummer, so they decide to hold a last stand where they blow through 90% of their ammo as bullets soar underneath panties while using tits as a shock absorber for gun recoil... even though the rope fence has holes in it so big you could get through them by bending over a bit.

If it wasn't for the quality of the rest of it I'd say Armageddon 2001 was damn bad based on that horrendous ending. The Onslaught saga and subsequent Heroes Reborn stuff was terrible (save for Heroes Reborn Iron Man which was kinda cool) to the point that I swore off a lot of Marvel books for 2 years straight. As much as I disliked Hush it was a fucking masterpiece of execution compared to the trash heap that was Hush Returns.
I only read the first few arcs up till Civil War but New Avengers really sucked. Maybe I'm just too much of a classics Avengers fans but it took away a lot of the coolness of the brand away. For one thing putting every damn Marvel hero in it including one I could never stand (Luke Cage) took away why being an Avenger was "special" in the first place.
That series is one of the many reasons why I only read 5 Marvel books nowadays (which I only looked into cause of your strong endorsement of em in the first place so thx btw) as opposed to a lot more like I did for many years. Somebody please remove the keys to the city from the hands of Bendis already. I like his non-Marvel published shit sometimes but he's just not built to carry earth 616 IMO.

Speaking of which, almost every non-cosmic Marvel event in recent history. Chaos War, World War Hulks, Siege, Secret Invasion, series where writers got full editorial freedom to do whatever the fuck they wanted, and yet Doomwar, which was nearly ruined due to editorial input, still seems like a masterpiece in comparison to any of those events.

I don't remember the name of the anime, but it was a generic show about a female secret agent who defeats bad guys. Now, that can lead to a crappy show by itself if handled poorly, but what made it absolutely terrible was the egregious fanservice. The first ep had this agent chick bust into a mansion owned by a perverted mistress with nothing but female attendants and maids, and as she was mowing these maids down they fell in the most awkward and dumbest positions possible (face-down ass up, legs wide open) with plenty of panty shots to boot. It's like the studio's target demographic consisted solely of prepubescent boys.
Also, all ecchi anime/manga suck ass. Well, no I won't go that far. Some could be decent without the damn fanservice.

Are you saying there are no anime/manga with ecchi that are above the level of 'decent'? because that's a straight up lie.

When I say fanservice, I mean non-stop boobs jiggling and panty shots, not a once in a while sorta thing. It gets really annoying real quick.

While the chances may be higher than usual, still, lots of fanservice doesn't mean something is automatically bad. Sundome had plenty of nipples and panties, didn't stop it from being an amazing manga.

Well, seeing breasts and panties doesn't bother me if it's done tastefully like Claymore where often times nudity is bound to happen and it doesn't just feel like the author put that in for the sake of putting it in. Well, in a case like that I don't even think of it as fanservice since it's done tastefully I guess.lol

Lol, the same is true for Sundome where the nudity and intimacy is actually part of the story. I still tend to regard it as fanservice though.

The way the X-Men have been handled in the past decade or so is by far the worst I've experienced. What made the book so great has been it's downfall. For me to dread the regular books and start to enjoy the terrible Chris Claremont X-Men Forever garbage was the turning point. I have never been a huge Fantastic Four fan but the book has been one of the main reasons I still read some of the Marvel books. It seems that when a Marvel book gets a good momentum the shit gets the ax...Secret Warriors is the worst case scenario for example.
