Bronx rapper Don Q’s latest joint Yeah Yeah finds A Boogie With da Hoodie and the OG 50 Cent riding shotgun. A Boogie’s verse rides that hood melodic wave, tempered by  autotuned sing songy half rap, popularized by Drake and furthered by acts like Bryson Tiller and Kirko Bangz. His approach is decidedly more hood on than those, probably wiht a little Max B on top for good measure.

The rappers kick solid verses that almost swim upstream in rhythm as they flow to the beat but on the outskirts of the beat; a cool approach that keeps the listener off-balance. 50 Cent hasn’t sounded this sharp in a while, including the Power theme song. His cycle as a premiere rap talent has passed but if he can stick and move with more verses like this oen he will remain rap relevant and a welcome guest spot.

Yeah Yeah will knock in the club (regular or strip) with a beat that is ready for the after 1AM part where it’s go time. Don Q has a nice voice with clear diction and a stern, confident, precise flow that will warrant and few listens and enough skill to call for a rewind or two. Look out for his upcoming mixtape  Don Season 2 dropping August 31st. If it’s like Yeah Yeah, he will be just fine.
