Waddup Waddup, it’s about time to hit ya’ll over the head with another dope episode of Rip Shop Radio. This weeks playlist included more rarities I’m almost positive you haven’t heard before, more oldies-but-goodies, new joints from the Doppelgangaz and Mello Music group, and more.
This was a sick playlist and I’d like to think I really brought the ruckus this time around. I’ve gotta classic collabo with Nick Wiz and Ran Reed, “Whutcha Want”, which has got one of the most face-scrunchingest beats that I’ve come across in a long time. Jon Connor went in with a freestyle over a classic Eminem beat, and he bodied it better than Marshall did. Skyzoo and Antman wonder got some burn with “Praying Against D’Evils” off their stellar dedication to Hov’s debut album. Redman and his Gilla House fam put a new spin on “No Church In The Wild” with their ode to the sticky icky, “Sourdeezal”.
Milo & producer L’Orange’s collaboration “You Are Safe Now” is something I happened upon earlier in the week and it’s a case study of when the right emcee meets the right beat. I think the crowning achievement of this episode of Rip Shop Radio is the fact that I was able to do some sleuthing and track down a cut that few even knew existed. Busta Rhymes’ “The Ugliest” is produced by Jay Dee and features Biggie Smalls, and it’s not some made up shit. It’s the genuine article b. Also, Nas over Naughty by Nature’s “Uptown Anthem” is flames.
