The Neighbourhood X The 1975 @ Amos’ Southend In Charlotte

The 1975 Stage

By Odeisel

Manchester, England has been a historic breeding ground for Rock & Roll groups and one of the most recent bands to represent is The 1975, a rock band fronted by vocalist and drummer Matthew Healy. They released their debut EP, Facedown back in August of 2012 and are preparing their self titled album this September. They hit the road in support of The Neighbourhood, who were headlining their first tour. They stopped in Charlotte at Amos’ Southend on one of the last legs of their tour and the Planet was in the house.

The 1975 ran a very extensive set featuring tracks form all four of their works, Sex, Music For Cars, IV and the aforementioned Facedown.  They ran through heartthrob rock shit, hard-hitting numbers and high energy tracks. the wide variety kept the crowd rocking and they blended their studio work with heavy crowd participation, musical solos and a couple monologs from lead, Healy. They did a bangup job as the opening act, keeping the crowd warm despite a very long delay.

The Neighbourhood has developed quite a following with their blend of 90s Hip-Hop R&B elements and traditional rock. They took the stage bathed in purple light and shadow, creating big drama and anticipation. The group had a smarmy swagger that reflected their newfound marquee status and their performance, while not as colorful or varied as their undercard, was more than enough to keep the crowd rocking. Here are the visuals. It’s the summer, get out and see some live music while you can.Peace.
