Run The Jewels Feat. Big Boi: Banana Clipper

run the jewels

Killer Mike and El-P had one of the best albums of 2012 with R.A.P. Music. The duo are back in 2013 with an upcoming project as group Run The Jewels. Besides the-oh-so gully moniker, they have a very strong chemistry and El-P actually grabs the mic this time around for an underground cherry on top.  To whet your appetite for their upcoming dish, they have let go of the first single from the project, Banana Clipper, with a stunning closeout verse from Big Mike mentor and occasional sparring partner, Big BOI. Shout to Killer MIke for the Baby Boy reference (“Fuck Yo Fort…Lil Nigga”).

There isn’t much to say here. The lyrics are there, the beats are there, and Daddy Fat Sacks lays one hell of a closeout verse. Killer Mike and El-P trade verses EPMD style, seamlessly transitioning and not tripping over mic cords. If the rest of the album is like this, expect Run The Jewels will be right back in position for album of the year. Respect the jux. Run the jewels. They got a Banana Cipper and a Big Boi to boot. Enjoy.
