The Firing Squad: Radio Wars, Rome Burns, Club Clashes

By Odeisel

“Real journalism is publishing something someone else does not want published – the rest is just public relations.” George Orwell

With so much drama in the world today in our communities on both macro and micro levels, it’s always strange to see the news or people that claim to be journalists talking about all kinds of silly things and never what’s going on. The Firing Squad is here to take aim at all that is wrong with the world, starting with our own communities. Three men of color with no censor and no objectives but truth, justice and common sense. Each episode will deal with hot-button issues with honesty, straight talk, and humor whenever possible . No personality is untouchable, and no one is spared the venom, or the praise whenever fit.

The week’s episode is sans ipoppedoff, but the treacherous two held it down on a number of topics without our family. We took a look at the current “war” between Funkmaster Flex and the Breakfast Club, two popular NYC radio shows and the madness currently going on between them. Do real men argue like that?

From there we check the aftermath of the Chris Brown/Drake/Meek Mill club clash. For guys that don’t love these hoes, one chick has them all twisted. What can we see coming down the road for these individuals? We check rapper Nas and singer The Dream for jumping to Gwyneth Paltrow’s defense during the whole N***as in Paris debacle. When will Black men stop giving their white friends ghetto passes? Maybe Juneteenth didn’t reach all of the homies like we thought it did.

David Stern went ham on Jim Rome for asking whether the NBA lottery was fixed. Is this a case of Jerk on Jerk violence? Did Rome have a right to ask the question? Did Stern really mean what he said or was there something more to the statement? What was the statement? Tune in and find out.

Finally we look at Oprah interviewing the talentless Kardashians. Is this the first sign of her diminishing executive power? Do you think this was her call? Does her network need more ignorance to compete with today’s audience? We examine and get it in on The Firing Squad.
