Cut the Mustard and Ketchup with the 2 Hungry Bros

By Deep of 2HungryBros.

Mostly through Homeboy Sandman’s taste in beats, the world continues to be shown what the 2 Hungry Bros serve up. So what have we been doing now that Homeboy Sandman is on the road? This spring, we ventured into INSTRUMENTALISM sans instruments of course, just funky hard samples and tasty Boom Bappery.

In spirt of Dj Shadow, Madlib, and even Jay Dee, we’ve gone purely analog, mpc’s straight to bandcamp. We”re not engineers or anything high tech, so we’re not behind the boards on this exercise, more like on the [drum] pads. Have no fear, though, these jump offs are super raw!

If you’re in the market or mood for such the thing, we will be providing you weekly, mega-sized portions of our 2 Hungry Bros beats from each individual bro to accentuate the definitive styles each of us brings.

In the spirit of the self-sustaining producer, we’ve employed numerous sound bites from the humorous to the obscure. We used to believe instrumental albums were incomplete without a dope emcee present. But we decided to make our mentor, Fred Ones (producer from Sonic Sum and DJ for Rob Sonic) proud. We’ve had a great experience making these and want to share them with you.

In the past, we thought it taboo to expose which bro did what beat. We’re over a year deep in parenthood and this was a way for us to get out of the creative slump that long, sleeplesss nights with a crying baby can put one in. And yes we both had boys almost simultaneously. So we were going to keep it real with the interested listeners this go around and reveal ourselves.

This week Ben Boogz takes you on a super organic journey of hard hitting head noddery. Enjoy and look out for future releases with great new independent artists like I AM MANY, SINTEX, K Gaines (of the Sleepwalkas), and more.

Sometimes I write slow sometimes I write quick, I'm gritty and brittle like a chick o stick. I love all kinds of music but I have my ear to that Hip hop we all grew up loving and listening to. The salt and pepper Facial Hair Rap.
