Fiona Apple Debuts New Songs At NPR’s SXSW Showcase

By shelz.

It’s been almost seven years since Apple’s fans have been treated to a new album.  Hell, her last album, Extraordinary Machine, almost didn’t see the light of day.  Talk to Lupe about the angry fan intervention he employed to wrench Lasers from the evil label empire and he may tell you he got his protest shtick from Ms. Apple.

Rumors of a new album have been floating around for years and it looks like the mill has moved them to fruition as Fiona Apple took the stage last night at an NPR showcase to perform some new material along with some aged classics.  Her fans were more than receptive.

Fiona’s upcoming album, The Idler Wheel is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, is allegedly coming in June. The below song, “Every Single Night,” should show up on the track list.  So take a listen and get ready.  Fiona Apple is jumping back into the fray.
