Skrillex Says Goodbye

By shelz.

I’ve heard about Skrillex more in the last 48 hours than I had in all the years of my life prior to Sunday. The guy who obviously finds Cassie a style muse managed to win three Grammys, have his phone number plastered all over national television and release what may be a style changing track in the amount of time it took you to sober up from the weekend. How’s that for the best week ever?

Maybe having every fist-pumping dance fan in the country calling you isn’t great, but at least he knows how many people love what he does, or should I say did.

“My Good Bye” is a departure from the aggressive, bass-driven dance sound Skrillex is known for. This is more dainty, melodic and dare is say, pop-like. Skrillex on the mic isn’t all that bad and considering how stagnant the dance/pop mix we normally hear on top pop 40 radio has become, this shouldn’t be denied as a tangent. Skrillex has a place within this sound. Hopefully, he will claim it.

Then again, it might really be a random tangent.  Either way, from all those calls he received Sunday night, you can glean that legions of fans will ride with him regardless of his final decision.  Is it really his goodbye to the sound that made him famous?  Only time will tell.
