Metallica: Just A Bullet Away

By shelz.

It’s day two of the free music drive from Metallica.  They are being extra generous to the fans for their 30th anniversary, releasing free digital music and all.  I never thought I’d see the day that would happen, but it’s here. Yesterday they sent out “Hate Train.”  Today it’s “Just a Bullet Away,” and in my humble opinion, this one kicks a bit more ass than the “Hate Train”….and the table.  Sorry. I couldn’t help it.

Snippets of this song have been floating around for years under the title of “Holy Revolver. “ So it’s cool to get the full version and see if its everything we thought it would be.  “Just a Bullet Away” is long as hell with some pretty convoluted axe work, so it fits the Death Magnetic mold.  Of course you have to ask why this wasn’t included on the track list, but hind sight is always perfect.

Anyway, strap in folks, the lyrics are disturbing and the break is quite a departure from the rest of the spirit of the song.  So even if you don’t like it you can’t say it’s boring.  “Just a Bullet Away.” Enjoy.
