Marvel is not the only publisher with money riding on this summer. DC Comics hero Green Lantern has risen as a character over the last decade to become a first tier entity worthy of movie treatment.

While the early trailers left much to be desired, this weekend’s Wondercon featured footage fo the pending movie that wowed convention attendees and spoke to the vast cosmos-spanning adventures of the Green Lantern mythos.

Prominent in this trailer are eventual Green Lantern foe Sinestro, pictured still a leading member of the Green Lantern Corps. The planet Oa, center of the lantern universe is also given light as well as scores of the different alien compatriots that make up the Green Lantern Corps, an inter-galactic police force.

The yellow impurity Parallax is shown in battle with Abin Sur, Sinestro’s best friend and the Lantern that passes his ring on to earthman Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Alien locales, immense scale and sharp-looking special effects color this footage as a certified win for Gang Green and certainly ups the anticipation for the movie. Fanboys have to be licking their chops after seeing somethign like this. Let’s hope the movie is as good as the previews.
