Nicki Minaj Goes For The (OVER)Kill With Tragedy

By Odeisel

Well we no longer have to assume that Nicki Minaj is talking about Lil Kim. The latest diss snippet, slated to appear on Wayne’s The Carter IV (according to rumors) gives you enough specifics (selling your album on PayPal) that you know exactly who the target of her venom is. No more ambiguous haters and “dusty bitches” this time around. No it could possibly be Foxy or some other femcee. In the war that should have ended on Nicki’s album and was unfortunately extended by Kim on Black Friday, I don’t think any of us wins.

It’s a snippet from a larger song, so there isn’t much to break down for the people, but at its slow pace, it doesn’t have the fire and energy that was possessed by “Roman’s Revenge.” There is no “I am not Jasmine, I am Aladdin” face-in-your-hand lines that make you feel bad for Kim. It’s mixtape level you’re washed up and mad because I’m hot and in your spot fodder. At this point in their careers it’s like watching a Passion of Christ DVD or watching all 4 Horsemen beat up on Dusty Rhodes. It’s overkill.

Dear Niki,

You’re the top chick right now. Responding to Kim legitimizes all those shots at you that most people don’t even care about. Most of the marketplace has taken your side. Everyone has had their laugh over PayPalgate. Don’t feed the monster any more. At the heart of this is probably jealousy. Nobody is looking for their 14:59 to turn in 15:00. But if you’re really interested in making the Queen Bee buzz die down, you should stop fueling the flame. At this point it’s mountain out of mole hill making.

For those of you that care, here’s the snippet.

See above video for classic Four horseman overkill. WHOOOOOO!!

  1. I really like planet ill / illside radio but this topic kind of bothers me. Nicki M is a forced gimmick. Just because Rolling Stone deemed her a Hip Hop Queen does not make it so. RR diss was awful, hang it up flatscreen? That was it. Man since when are you on top with 1 album that’s mediocre rap/pop? For those who don’t buy mixtapes plenty of artists sell for profit before they leak.
