Luda And Slaughterhouse Represent For Fast Five With Furiously Dangerous

By shelz.

Fast Five seems to have opened to better reviews than most people thought it would.  The cars are faster, the girls are hotter and the cast contains favorites from all of the previous editions.  The movie has some weight in its soundtrack as well, sporting the likes of Ludacris and Slaughterhouse to name a couple.

The track “Furiously Dangerous” spewed a snippet a while back, but now the full versions is available and the quintet of Luda, Royce da 5’9”, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Joe Budden sounds like it should be hotter than the film.

Mr. Porter opens the track per Hip-Hop’s newest trend, with a one dimensional lady voice.  She belts out the title, which is looped over and over again until Luda takes over.  The buzzing synth sits on top a layer of strings.  Another level of string stabs are looped and inserted in between.  There are some other digital accents and synthesized horns strewn about.  It’s busy, but carries the type of drama necessary for the foundation of the song. Mr. Porter could lose the girl though.

The lyrics are generally chest thumping monologues with comparisons to other emcees that always find our quartet in top. Luda claims he can kill another rapper with a bar.  Budden declares his rhymes can’t be imitated and your chick has probably slobbed on his knob. Royce rolls through some convoluted wordplay that might require a rewind or two.  We know he likes his chicks high but did he suggest Obama wasn’t going to be reelected? Damn. Joell is a bit flat here.  Running out of words can at times be cute, it’s not here.  Crooked is still representing the west to the fullest and is still talking about trafficking green like the Block Obama campaign was yesterday, but his delivery is as tight as ever. The song closes with that same girl.  Mr. Porter can lose that too.

The song is dope for what it is and all the emcees contributed solidly.  Who was best?  Luda’s verse is the slowest, simplest and most concise and he still smoked the crew.  Word to DTP.  “Furiously Dangerous.” Enjoy.
