Breezy Hulks Out, Pusha Strikes Fear, Canibus Vs. Primo, Bulls And Lakers Run Wild On IllSide Radio

By Odeisel

The Planet, along with Chicago’s own Square-One of B-Side Radio, have joined forces to bring you the week in review in Hip-Hop and current events, along with the occasional special guest and some music to keep you moving through your day.

In this week’s episode of IllSide Radio, we take a look at Chris Brown’s recent incident during a recent taping of Good Morning America. We take a look at whether or not Robin Roberts was right in her line of questioning and whether Chris can actually separate himself from the Rihanna episode. Does Chris Brown have more issues than just getting over the issue?  Who is on his team or in his corner to help him? Does he need counseling for issues that run deeper than simple anger management? Should the media stop asking him about these things?

How does his situation actually differ from the petulant behavior of other celebrities, and does that comparison with artists like Charlie Sheen excuse Brown’s behavior? Was the whole thing a publicity stunt with his impending album? Is mainstream media harder on Black artists (i.e. Kanye’s earlier episode with Matt Lauer)? Do urban journalists serve as apologists for the behavior or Black artists by not challenging them? We look at the many angles of this issue.

The big street release of the week was Pusha T’s Fear Of God mixtape. With his Re-Up Gang track record raise the bar too high for Pusha to overcome? What were the highs and lows of the work and what was missing? Did such an ambitious title work against him? Will his association with Kanye take him further than the Clipse’s association with Pharrell.

On mixtapes in general, why do new artists have mixtapes with so many songs? Shoud a new artists (or any for that matter) have 20 songs on a mixtape?

We take a look at the whole Canibus vs. DJ Premier issues that blew up this week and what it means in the grand scheme of things. All this and more on this episode of IllSide Radio.

Sit back, relax and take a ride on the Ill Side.
