During the height of Hip-Hop’s obsession with street credibility, I wrote a piece on taking the next step and making it interactive.  Kidnapping fans, selling ankle monitors as concert souvenirs and concert goers getting 2 for 1 tickets if they present a mug shot at the time of purchase, were just a few of my ideas.  I guess Plies and I are on the same wave length because he took my idea to the next level at a recent show.  In a fit of anger, Plies announced to his fans that if people didn’t stop disrespecting him, he was going to shoot up the building.  Wow.  Dope.  Right?

Did anyone move, run or hunker down somewhere?  The behavior that set him off was a simple cup being thrown at the stage.  If dude behind you tosses up another one then ducks, you are in what I call the Kid Cudi line of fire, but this time it wouldn’t be a fist coming back at you. No one moved though, they cheered.

It’s not like Plies has a whole bunch of fans left.  Why would he kill the few who are still willing to put up money to see him?  And why did he ask the crowd if they paid to get in like they had a choice?  If that was the case, he needed to shoot the folks at the ticket booth.

It’s not even necessary to flex your hardcore muscle in that way these days. Rick Ross has proven that fantasy trumps reality and the religion of street cred has gone the way of the Babarambaba Cult.  Bo$$ is the patron saint of fakedom and we have all moved on. I’m not quite sure why he would feel the need to go all retro and hurl terroristic threats at the party goers, unless he wasn’t joking.

I’m sure most of you remember Plies was involved in a club shooting once before; the same incident that sent his brother to jail for 3 years. His mic was cut for running over his allotted time.  He went ballistic because he thought the rules didn’t apply to him.  Then his entourage pulled out their weapons and shot into the crowd.  Five people were stuck by bullets that night and they still have Plies tied up in litigation. Still think he’s playing?  I would have tummy scooted, Navy Seal-style out of that club.  Actually, I wouldn’t have been there in the first place. But I can’t account for everyone’s taste.

His little mush-mouthed ass should have been promptly plucked from that stage and escorted to the nearest  police station for making terroristic threats or trying to incite a riot or for just for being generally wack.  Well, if that was a crime he wouldn’t have made it to that club date years ago to shoot up the bish the first time. Law enforcement should step in and his behavior should be admonished like Hip-Hop admonished Goon Affiliated.  Haven’t heard of it?  No problem.  Forget I said anything.

The people who were shot in Orlando all those years ago said they believe Plies used, if not concocted the event just to get a rep.  But now the days of the real life thug monster are gone and we have fantastic stories abounding like Cam claiming he does drug buys on Grammy night and Jae Millz maintaining he shoots bitches just for screaming with no remorse.  We are hip to the game and know there isn’t a bit of truth behind those statements.  The next step of course is eliminating them, but that’s a whole ‘nother convo. We probably need to eliminate Plies first, before he makes good on another promise to shoot up his fans because the past has taught us that he will. Then again, the Plies fan is an endangered species.  Maybe by the time he gets locked and loaded they will be extinct.
