What happens when a music artist blends New Wave, Electronica, Funk, Pop, Punk and Glam Rock sounds with a healthy touch of 1980s mainstream music sensibilities and a hellacious amount of energy?

You get the dope music of AfroPunk singer-songwriter Margo. While there are plenty of acts that are currently mining 1980s nostalgia for audio inspiration such as the Black Eyed Peas, LFMAO and Ke$ha, Margo actually sounds authentic in her adventurous homage to the era.

On her 5 track Animal House EP, listeners are treated to an eclectic mixture of mid-to-high tempo songs that are ready made for the party from the Toronto native (now New York City resident).

All of the songs slide & glide easily into each other on her 5 track Animal House EP, almost mixtape style.

From sick of your weak come on line anthem “I Call The Shots” to the wild girl-themed “Animal House,” Margo expertly rides the various driving synthesized productions of Finnish producer Jaakko Manninen with a continuous series of catchy, enjoyable lyrics and hooks.

The strong influence of artists like Prince (and his 1000 spin-off music projects like Vanity 6, Apollonia, etc.), The Mary Jane Girls, Cyndi Lauper, Shelia E and others is obvious in her music, but Margo avoids blah cover band territory.

Stop chilling in your every day quiet domicile of music mediocrity and step into Margo’s Animal House ASAP.
