We first covered Johnny Polygon back in March as part of our Indiesent Exposure. His off beat blend of humor, social observation and lyrical storytelling make for a pretty interesting collage of flavor. The many-sided artist is well aware that some of you out there may not be hip to what he’s done so far, so now, he’s going to help you catch up with his mixtape appropriately titled, Catch Up.
The album features 30 (yes thirty) cuts from over the length of Polygon’s career and includes features by artists like Kid Cudi, Nas, dead prez, and other luminaries. If there was ever a proper jumping point for getting on the bandwagon, this is the time.
We caught up with Johhny over the weekend for an interview about his music, politics, weed strands and the return of the West Coast. Above all, Johnny Polygon embraces the will of the individual and orginality. Here’s the interview and the mixtape, two-for-one. Enjoy.
