Indiesent Exposures: Alpha FEmales Volume 1

By DJ Fusion

What’s the word Planet Ill fam?

It’s time to officially set off Spring 2010 with another installment of Indiesent Exposure, the weekly music column where folks drop some FREE music downloads & information about quality artists from the independent music community who deserve more exposure and props for keeping their various genres lively & non-cookie cutter status.

Hopefully by each post, Planet Ill’s Indiesent Exposure will give your ears some respite from of the daily audio wackness, that bombards the masses via mainstream radio’s definitions of Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, World Music, etc.

If you like what you hear & download up in this section (some joints of which will hopefully be new to folks), PLEASE support these artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product,  or see theirshows. At the end of the day, music artists need to eat like everyone else for putting in their work somewhere down the line.

To blast off this week’s Indiesent Exposure session and to wrap up Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the rarest of rarities in  mainstream Hip-Hop culture – the female MC.

They are still alive and kicking and making fantastic music for people to enjoy- from street Hip-Hop, “conscious” music, everyday people grooves, and anything else in between.
I put together a collection of a few old and new school female MCs  doing their thing through both independent music distribution channels releasing music that pushes boundaries. Hopefully you’ll hear a lady you haven’t encountered yet or perhaps hear something that hasn’t been played in eons. Either way, we hope you enjoy a bit of what’s on the plate here today.

If you dig what you hear, ALL of these ladies have websites and product to push. Support them.

Let’s get into it:
