Now we’re getting into the swing of things. 2010 started off a bit slowly for the Planet as some of our key contributors were dealing with both tragedy and triviality but we back on the block like Lego’s and firing on all cylinders.
We welcomed back Elianne Halbersberg to the fold as she delivered an interview with Ion’s Managing director regarding their new Discover DJ product which allows you to sound like you know what you’re doing as a house party DJ when you really don’t. From there we got back at the homie Skyzoo to see what he’s been doing since he released his album. From there General shelz took a look at The Real Housewives Of Atlanta getting nominated for an NAACP award. Yes. An IMAGE award.
Malice Intended gave us Seven Perfect Action Films From the 80s. From Bruce Willis to Eddie Murphy, if you are an 80s baby, you felt a bit warm reading this one. Sportswriter The Rowdy One gave his take on Mark McGwire finally ending the worst kept secret in baseball by removing the “alleged” from his ‘roid abuse.
DJ Dub & Furious Styles released a Jay Electronica tape entitled Victory. We had the review, the download, exclusive Jay video, AND the Exhibit C remix with Nas. (*Stands in B-Boy Stance). Omarion’s new album Ollusion dropped and we were there with a review.
We endured a double loss as we chronicled both the death of legendary soul singer Teddy Pendergrass and the tragic series of earthquakes that have leveled Haiti. On a lighter note, the homie A Negro With A Keyboard had to get at Mariah for her drunken award acceptance speech last week.
Malice returned with a book review on new release Hip-Hop World, as well as new Hughes Brothers vehicle Book of Eli. Shelz came back with a piece o the OG Bun B for her recurring feature “And the Beat Goes On.”
DJ Fusion delivered her usual two hits of flavor with The Fusebox Radio podcast and the weekly Indiesent Exposure piece featuring Raheem Devaughn and Dwele. We reviewed the new Gangsta Grillz Tape Cam’ron-Boss Of All Bosses 2. To close us out, The Rowdy One gave us the week in sports and the picks for the NFL division series.
Strong performances by almost the entire staff brought us through a very long week and took a lot of pressure off yours truly. Now, on with the music. Make sure you check us out next week when we’ll have interviews from Prodigy, Buckshot, Rhymefest in concert and more!
