What’s the good word to the Planet Ill crew of readers during this 1st week of December 2009!

After a week of meh types of white noise “Tiger Tiger Woods y’all” pseudo news (Not the 1st person to cheat on a significant other at all but really, why get married on a monogamous level if you KNOW you’ll cheat on the side…with a lot of women…AND be sloppy about it? SMH o_O <- my view)…let’s get things back on track. It’s time for another session of Indiesent Exposure – the weekly writeup and music download piece here on Planet Ill were we strive to give some well deserved exposure to quality artists doing their thing throughout the independent music circuit.

Pretty much every music genre gets covered in this section at one time or another – Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, etc. – to keep the audio goodies a bit on the diverse & lively side.

Hopefully post by post here on Planet Ill, this section will give your ears some temporary respite from some of the audio wackness, boredom and/or iCoonery that bombards the masses each day via the mainstream radio and TV airwaves.

If you like what you hear in this section (some of which will hopefully be new to folks), PLEASE support these artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product, go to their shows, etc., especially since at the end of the day, music artists needs to eat like everyone else for putting in their work somewhere down the line.

This week, it’s time for some Jazz, Rock, Soul, Hip-Hop & Rock Music singles here on Indiesent Exposure to make things a little better for your ears…

Check out everything below from these talented artists and let us over here Planet Ill know what you think when you get the chance – hope everyone enjoys the selections!

Let’s get into it:

Breez Evaflowin – Matador (Daveytree RMX) (Download)

Most folks in indie Hip-Hop circles (especially in the late 1990s) know of Breez Evahflowin’ as being one of the founding members of New York City’s Stronghold collective of MCs (which includes folks like Poison Pen, L.I.F.E.Long & Immortal Technique and more) along with his reputation as an on point battle MC (when MCs actually FREESTYLED for real off the head, is that even done anymore?!) and various releases and collabos on various labels.

Now Breez is rolling with the Domination Recordings label and after his album Breez Deez Treez dropped this year to some pretty good acclaim, sales and touring dates, he dropped a free EP on the internet recently called Breez Deez Freez (download here) of various remixes from the Breez Deez Treez and Troublemakerz (his collabo project with producer Dirt. E. Dutch) albums.

I like the musical feel of the “Matador” remix where Breez’s rhymes of handling MCs & others foolish enough to challenge him roll off kind of mellow jazzy/Old School Rock & Roll piano riff and steady boom bap drumbeat.

Find out more about Breez Evaflowin’s music projects, shows and such over at his official website at http://www.EvahFlowin.com.

DJ Devastate feat. Silvia, Svard & DJ Create – Spinnin’ (Download)

Sweden’s DJ Devastate is part of the internationally known Elite Fleet Turntablist & Production DJ crew that’s worked on projects with various old & new school Hip-Hop MCs like Masta Ace, Prince Po, Jeru the Damaja, Motion Man, Grand Agent, Shabaam Sahdeeq and many others.

His expertise is with working with jazzy types of sounds and compositions, with both live instrumentation and incorporating samples, to make some mellowed out types of songs with whomever he collabos with in the studio, from singers to MCs.

The track “Spinnin’” is from his first official album, Movement/Silence that dropped in November on BBE Records (one of the releases I slept on for a minute until it got in iPod rotation) and is a full lounge and relax instrumental groove that reminds me of the old Jazzy Grooves compilations that dropped in the 1990s and sounds like something the Pharcyde or A Tribe Called Quest would have put on as a B-side or transition back in the 1990s.

Get more information on DJ Devastate & the Elite Fleet crew’s latest projects either over at his official MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/DevastateMovement or at http://www.EliteFleetHipHop.com.

Sabatta – Emperor’s New Clothes (Download)

South London’s Sabatta (consisting of singer, guitarist & frontman Yinka, bassist Hugo & drummer Matt ) represents the some fantastic and driving alternative Rock Music (especially in this age where in the U.S. alternative rock = Adam Lambert) vibes from the United Kingdom.

This AfroPunk crew came into being in 2005 and sonically they sound kind of like a mix of Nirvana (especially on some of the slower joints they put out) with the heavy big Metal audio tendencies of a Led Zeppelin or Metallica.

The track “Emperor’s New Clothes” comes from their full length album of the same name that dropped earlier this year that alternates from from a slow mellow guitar groove and plaintive singing at the beginning before getting into some serious guitar riffs and soaring vocals with it’s story on feelings of betrayal.

Check out more info, music, pictures and other goodies from Sabatta at their official website at http://www.Sabatta.net.

Blue Raspberry feat. Dox – What’s Good (Download)

New Jersey singer and songwriter Blue Raspberry is best known by most of the mainstream music masses for her singing on a lot of tracks from the Wu-Tang Clan in the past, including Wu-Tang Clan’s“Ice Cream”, Raekwon’s “Rainy Dayz” & “Heaven & Hell”, Capadonna’s “Young Hearts”, Method Man’s “Release Yo Delf” and many other tracks it would take all day to get into.

In 2006, she dropped a solo album called “Out Of The Blue” of a lot of interesting and quality Hip-Hop tinged Soul Music tracks that highlighted Blue Raspberry as a singer (who can actually REALLY sing with out whatever instrument of technology El Diablo uses to still put out Jennifer Lopez records) strongly influenced by old school jazz vocalists and Motown era singers.

“What’s Good” is a track from her upcoming independently solo album that’s dropping in 2010, Candi Green: A Blue Raspberry Story where she shows her skills over a nicely flipped sample of “Nights Over Egypt”.

Get more info on what’s up with Blue Raspberry over at her official MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/BlueRaspberry.

[...] This week also brought the conclusion to Planet Ill’s series on the fall and rise of Detroit by our own Chuck Waters. Make sure you get some of that.  Also on the political/social tip, we gave you Obama’s West Point speech in its entirety, and kept you hip as we marked World AIDS Day 2009. The Rowdy One chimed in with commentary on Tiiiga Wu and the weekly NFL: Out of Bounds piece. We’re much more than music. We got chopped it up with rising West Coaster Noah Jones and the cherry on top, as always is DJ Fusion’s ridiculously informative and dope Indiesent Exposure. [...]
