Good evening and welcome back to the sickest Sunday on the net. It was a really great week on the Planet.  We opened up with controversy with Rick Ross and The Carol City Cartel going in on XXL, 50 Cent and the G-Unit, and speaking on a variety of topics.

From the Bauce, we brought you not only a Tale of Two Weezies, where shelz explored both the power of Lil Wayne’s talent and the disappointment he brings when he’s unfocused, but we also brought you the review of his latest mixtape No Ceilings, which proved to be a further exercise in feast or famine.

Speaking of 50 Cent, we were the first outlet to officially review his latest album Before I Self Destruct. While better than Curtis, it’s perhaps not as complete throughout as the War Angel LP, released earlier this year, despite having higher individual highs.

Malice Intended put in yeoman work bringing you reviews for both Paranormal Activity and the RZA’s new book Tau of the Wu. Yes we do books, and thanks to Malice, our movie review section is bulking up nicely.

Jordan Forrester chimed in with a look at the California gang rape incident and called on us as citizens to save our children. Continuing with themes of introspection, relationship writer G.I.N.A. answered the concerns of a single woman who feels she is fun but is alone in He Say/She Say, while challenging all of us to recognize the person we see in the mirror and whether that person coincides with how the world sees us.  Powerful stuff.

On the fun side, free99 was in full effect as we gave you two morsels of wholesome goodness with the new Idle Warship mixtape, Party Robot and the very ill MJ/Jazzy Jeff work He’s The King, I’m The DJ.  Fire.

Elianne Halbersberg gave producers a heads up on the latest in technology with the Cubase 5, while DJ Fusion dropped another brilliant edition of Indiesent Exposure. The cherry on top? Hallowen havoc courtesy of a chilling Classic Clash between The Exorcist and The Omen, and shelz’ review of Tech N9ne’s newest disturbing album K.O.D (King of Darkness). As you can see we cover all bases at The Planet.  And now, on with the music.

Tech N9ne Feat. Brotha Lynch Hung- “Strange Music Box” **above**

This is your typically fresh, yet disturbing Tech  made extra harsh by a side of Brotha Lynch.  The tuba backed beat and Tech’s rapid fire delivery are standards but the guest on this track takes it to places appropriate for Halloween and graveyards but not many other places. Makes you remember the good ole days of horror core, Esham and Gangsta Nip. Do NOT play this in front of the kids.

Bishop Lamont & Indef- “F**k Yeah”

This song is an obvious parody of that silent majority that Fox News always touts.  Delivered entirely in a trailer park cadence, the song is overtly racist, classist and xenophobic-which is ridiculous when you consider the cross section that it represents, but that’s the point.  It’s fairly funny if you can recognize it as parody, mean spirited and divisive on face value.  Hopefully any listener will recognize it for what it is. It could certainly be used for divisive fodder. Peep.

50 Cent Feat. Eminem- “Psycho”

This track from the upcoming Before I Self Destruct features a high powered Eminem and 50 over a typical track.  The rappers truly bring the best out of this song.  Eminem is not his best but he is crisp and very very strong here.  50 manages to hang evne though as emcees they aren’t in the same wieght class.  Not as heavy as “Patiently Waiting,” but more serious than “Gatman & Robbin.”

Crooked I Feat. Royce da 5′9 & Horseshoe G.A.N.G.- “Cypher”

This track off Crooked’s EP is a basic beat laid out so the emcees can go to work.  No frills. Every single rapper teats this to pieces in a way that puts the BET cipher to shame. To be honest, I’ve never even heard of these Horseshoe guys but my antennae are now up and on alert.  Lyricism is not dead and these guys put the hammer down. You need this in your life.

Jay Electronica – “Exhibit C”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

This rapper is electrifying lyrically and if you don’t know him, you need to get familiar.  He’s from the NO and pardon the pun, but at his best he is flat out brilliant on the mic. This track is a Just Blaze original and it’s fire and Jay gives you his life story in the beginning and then goes in for the kill. This urgency is needed in music and Hip-Hop in particular. He has the cosigns from many corners but he doesn’t need them man. Any rapper that shouts out Nicholas Tesla without sounding like a knowitall ass is gifted. But don’t take my word for it.  Listen.

Jadakiss Ft. Sheek Louch- “It’s Painfull”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

First off, the beat is one of those grimey face frowning bangers. Secondly, the contrast of Jada’s laid back flow, paired with Sheek’s husky aggression is a match made in heaven.  This song is good stuff and some very good East Coast hard core. Kiss been spending a lot of time with Styles P, and they’re dope together, but this pairing may have a bit of legs to it.  They should rhyme together more often.

B.G.- “My Hood”

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

It’s a much lighter B.G. than we’re used to but  I suppose at this stage  of his career, he’s more elder statesman than street soldier. It’s a typical “I’m Back”- type song.  Manny Fresh (where has he been) is supplying that familiar NO bounce with those 808s, and B.G. is adequate on the mic.  Cool just to see G and Fresh together on a track. Solid if not spectacular.

And that’s it for this week’s edition of Sick Sundays. Make sure you check out Planet Ill daily for your dose of freshness without the crap.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Tomorrow we got the Melanie Fiona review, an inteview with legends Masta Ace and Ed OG, and more.  Peace .
