Hey there to all of our Planet Ill Peoples!

Time to kick out the goodness for another week of Indiesent Exposure – the weekly writeup and music download piece here on Planet Ill that strives to give some deserved exposure to quality artists doing their thing independent music circuit.

Pretty much every music genre is covered in this section – Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, etc.- to keep things a bit lively & diverse.

Hopefully, we’ll give your ears a temporary break from some of the audio wackness and/or iCoonery that bombards folks each day via the radio and TV airwaves.

If you like what you hear (some of which will hopefully be new to folks), PLEASE support these artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product, go to shows, etc.

End of the day, they need to eat like everyone else for putting in their work somewhere down the line.

The internet is still kicking out some pretty nice (and FREE) EPs and mixtapes of all sorts of music for folks to grab up, download and give a listen to while under your “It’s Fall & I’m Type Cold Snuggie (c) or Blanket” I’m going to hit you with some audio goodness & heat to listen. :)

Check out the music below from these talented artists & crews and let the Planet Ill family know what you think when you get the chance:

I first found about this compilation from our blog fam Rob Fields over at Bold As Love earlier this week.

They put together this fantastic 17 track compilation of AfroPunk/Black Alternatvie/Black Rock music out for FREE via Amazon.com to help promote these artists and to make folks look into copping more of other forms of Black Independent music .

If you like what you hear from this collection, please spread the word about this project as well as visiting the artist’s websites linked in the tracklisting and down the line, purchasing some of their product (most of whom have album or EP material on Amazon.com).

New York Born & Kingston, Jamaica raised Reggae & R&B Music artist Atiba “The Dappa Don” is one of the latest signees to the Slip-N-Slide Records label and has been quietly on the grind with his Dappa Radio mixtape series here in the states as well as doing a lot of behind the scenes writing for various artists (best known for work on Rodney Jerkins’ Versatility LP).

He has original material on the Dappa Radio Vol. 2 Mixtape mixtape as well some of the good ol’ remix standards and shows that he’s a genuinely talented man with the vocals (and sans scary studio magic a la Jennifer Lopez aka J. Lo aka Lola or whatever the hell she’s called now).

Check out more info on Atiba’s upcoming projects, shows and such over at his official website, http://www.myspace.com/AtibaMusicOnline.

Brooklyn, NY representatives Ashy L Bowz have been repping in NY/NJ/CT Tri-State’s indie Hip-Hop performance circles for a minute, which is where I first heard of this MC duo and later copped their music.

They definitely have a great live performance vibe and have been dropping consistently strong mixtape and LP releases as of late, which had them get recoginition from the Underground Music Awards this year by winning The Most Original Group award.

Ashy L Bowz – Going Green 2: 808s & Smoke Breaks is their latest mixtape project and from the cover (and the fact that folks see it’s getting love from High Times Magazine), the subject matter on the entire project is inspired by marijuana (* waits for gasps of surprise *) and Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak album.

Catchup with more of what’s good with Ashy L Bowz’s music, events, cop some more free music downloads and other good things over at their official website, http://www.NoLotion.com (no it’s not a joke – personally, that’s some ill branding in my opinion).

Sometimes, don’t you get the feeling of “this album is cool & I like it alot, but it would REALLY be great if I could just zone out to the instrumentals”?

Chicago’s Independent Soul and Hip-Hop music producer, Mulatto Patriot knows about that feeling and with that, decided to put out the instrumentals for free to the MCing and general music loving masses from his indie album Sonic Visuals (that featured artists like Ras Kass, Casual (Hieroglyphics), Pumpkinhead (Brooklyn Academy), Eternia. Pugs Atomz and more).

His production has a mixture of Jazz, Blues, Soul and House Music influences I’m sure folks should like…give the Mulatto Patriot – Sonic Visuals Instrumentals LP a download and see what’s good.

Check out more info on Mulatto Patriot over at his official website at http://www.MPTracks.com.
