Indiesent Exposure: BP3 Remixed Already, Shinobi Ninja, And Jarren Benton

shinobininjaBy DJ Fusion

What’s up Planet Ill Peoples – hope the week is going great so far.

It’s that time again to get into a bit more of Indiesent Exposure to the masses – the weekly writeup and download piece here on Planet Ill that strives to give some exposure to quality artists doing their thing independent music circuit.

Pretty much every music genre is covered in this section – Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, House, etc.- to keep things a bit lively & diverse.

Hopefully, we’ll give your ears a temporary break from some of the audio wackness and/or iCoonery that bombards folks each day via the radio and TV airwaves.

If you like what you hear (some of which will hopefully be new to folks), support the artists as much as you can in the future – hit up their websites, purchase some product, go to shows, etc.

End of the day, they need to eat like everyone else for putting in their work somewhere down the line.

Anyway, here goes – this week, I’ve been hitting up the free download circuit of dope EPs & mixtapes heavy to pull out these 3 joints that I hope y’all enjoy:

The Beatgods Presents: Jarren Benton – The Mixtape (Download)

Being cosigned HARD by Hip-Hop legendslike  Erick Sermon is a good look, but having actual dope music with quality rhymes & high energy over solid production is the true reason to look out for for Atlanta, GA  MC Jarren Benton in the upcoming months.

Check out my personal favorite tracks on the mixtape, “Crazy F***ing Day”, “Hunger” feat. Jawz of Life and “Dreamer” along with other quality joints to groove with from the mixtape. Check the brother out at his official website at http://www.JarrenBenton.net/.

Shinobi Ninja – Brooklyn to Babylon EP (Download)

The New York City-based band Shinobi Ninja consists of members Dave Aaron (Singer), Baby Girl (Singer), Maniac Mike (Guitar), Adriano Morez (Guitar), Terminator Dave (Drums) and DJ Axis. Their music is Hip-Hop, Punk, Soul, R&B and Metal infused and doesn’t sound like some MTV mutant creation (see Linkin Park, Gym Class Heroes, etc.). I wanted to share their debut EP, Brooklyn to Babylon with the Planet Ill crew to let y’all see how they roll. My personal favorite tracks from the release are “Brooklyn to Babylon”, “Rock Hood” and “Superstar Edara Johnson RMX.”

Find out some more information about Shinobi Ninja along with live performance videos, show dates and things on their official website at http://www.shinobininja.com/.

The remix projects are already out like mad for Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 album, which so far honestly is going 50/50 for me in terms of extreme dopeness or iTrash.com status.

What’s interesting about this project from producer Alexander Goose is that The Blueprint 3 Outtakes consists of actual beats that were officially crafted & submitted for Hov’s Blueprint 3. Even with the great feedback from Jay-Z’s camp, none of the production made the final cut. Alexander decided to drop the beats along with some remixes on the masses anyway, which actually make you wonder what could have been (especially if you’re one of those like me who feels that the Jay-Z output of albums is solid but just not quite classic status for various reasons).

Cop the download of The Blueprint 3 Outtakes project here.
